- At least one parent or guardian of all students in grades pre-k to 6 must attend a conference.
- If your student is in grades 7-12. your child's teachers will contact you if they feel a conference needs to take place. However, you are welcome to schedule a conference with our teachers even if they do not contact you for a conference.
Conference Dates:
- Grades pre-k to 3: October 7-11
- Grades 4 to 12: October 21-24
Tips for a Successful Parent/Teacher Conference:
- Pray about the conference and pray for your child's teacher! Ask for God to give you and your child's teacher wisdom as we seek to teach our students truth!
- Arrive on time - our teachers have a set schedule to follow, and they want to be sure to give the same amount of time to each family. If you arrive late, your conference time may have to be cut short, or other families may end up waiting, which is inconvenient for all!
- Remember that we are on the same team! We are partners, and we want to support you as you seek to bring your child up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6). There is spirit of no "us" vs. "them." We are working together! If something is not working or going well, please let us know because we want to address those issues!
- Mom and Dad (or appropriate guardians) only. We want to be able to freely discuss what is happening in the classroom without the student being present. It is difficult to address certain issues with the student present. Other siblings can be distraction from the short amount of time that we have to discuss things with you. We want focused time with Mom and Dad (or guardians). It may be inconvenient to find a sitter, but it really works best this way. If necessary, send one parent to the conference while the other stays with the kids.
- Come prepared to listen. We all have certain perceptions about our children, but sometimes, these may be challenged. Be willing to listen to constructive comments and of course, positive comments about your child.
- Come prepared to ask questions, and consider writing them down so that you don't forget anything! We want you to be informed about what is going on in class, and teachers work hard to make sure they communicate with you, but in spite of the good work they do, you may still have questions or concerns and this is the time for those!
