"State champions" has a nice ring to it. Recently, our school experienced a first in our young history: a state championship in a varsity team sport! That's right, our varsity girls cross country team climbed to the top of the mountain and finished first! While I am certainly impressed with the fact that our team beat schools that were two and three times our size, I am more impressed with the commitment all of our runners showed in sticking with something that is hard to do: run long distance.
