If you've been awake for the past year or so, I'm sure you've noticed the popularity of the "keep calm" statement. If you're interested in reading more about the history behind that phrase, you can read about here, here, or for an interesting video history about the phrase, check out the video that is contained in this article.
While the cultural popularity of that phrase lends itself to being popular with our students, it is the second part, which we have added that is most important, "do it heartily as unto the Lord." Oh, how we must drive this point home to our children: the things that we do, we need to do with every fiber of our being not because we seek to please others but because we want to please God. And, in the end only what is done for Christ will last forever. The famous missionary, C.T. Studd, said it this way, "only one life 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last."
So, parents, let's link arms and drive this theme home with our students. In fact, let's model it in front of them so that they are convinced to "keep calm and do it heartily as unto the Lord."
Question (leave a comment below): how can you work with your children at home to drive this concept into their hearts?
