To that end, we employ a number of strategies and special events, which help cultivate a love for God and others, and over the last several years, our involvement with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) has helped our students focus on others especially at a time of year (Christmas) when most children are focusing on themselves.
For this year's collection, the response form our families has been wonderful! I am incredibly thankful for the generosity that has been displayed by our students and parents over the last several weeks as our school has been collecting money and items for Operation Christmas Child. In a three week period, our students raised over $1,650 (plus all the items that were collected for the boxes), which is just phenomenal, and today, our student body had the privilege of packing the boxes, which will be delivered to the drop off location by our pre-kindergraten class (their class brought the most change).
I believe that this truly helps our children develop a heart for others. Already this year, I have heard a number of incredible stories of sacrificial giving by our student body. Parents, thank you for encouraging your student to participate, thank you for taking your student to the store to purchase the items, and thank you for partnering with VBA as we seek to cultivate in your child a heart that places the needs of others above their own.
Be sure to watch the video about Livia Satterfield and the impact that OCC had on her life.
A special thank you to Mrs. Cox, our OCC coordinator. Once again, she did an awesome job with this year's drive! On behalf of our students and staff, THANK YOU MRS. COX!
